Thamar University Holds a Workshop to Determine the Directions of the Institute of Continuing Education Thamar University Media/ Jamal Al-Bahri /Jumad Awal 21, 1445. December 4, 2023 ■ Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al - Haifi, the Rector of the University and within the framework of the events held by Thamar University under the title "The Flood of Al-Aqsa and the Victory of Palestine is a Source of Inspiration, and through-you are not Alone, We are with you", the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance at Thamar University organized today a scientific workshop to determine the Strategic Directions of Thamar University Institute for Continuing Education. This workshop comes in line with the Strategic Directions of Thamar University, and its vision to be a national and regional leader in the field of teaching and learning, knowledge production and dissemination, and community service. At the opening ceremony, the Rector of the University spoke to the attendees about the importance of the workshop and praised the efforts of the leadership of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, represented by Dr. Zaid Al-Hadur, and the Leadership of the Institute of Continuing Education, for their efforts in making this workshop a success. He particularly touched upon the efforts of Hanan Al-Shami, the Assistant Faculty Member and Head of the Quality Unit at the Institute of Continuing Education at the University which made good efforts in preparing the strategic directions of the Institute, and was a pioneer in this field at the level of quality units at the University. Dr. Al-Haifi pointed out that quality is the ultimate goal for everyone who seeks success. He stressed that the Institute's quest to improve its programs is a correct and necessary step to create a distinguished educational environment for this important branch of Health Sciences which is considered an influential and reliable intermediary between doctor and patient. He stressed the need to update and develop the Institute's programs continuously to ensure the continuity of the quality of Thamar University's Programs and Results. From his part, Prof. Dr. Adel Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, pointed out the quality of Education at the Institute, and that the outputs of the Institute have a remarkable efficiency. He pointed out that the workshop will discuss a number of ideas necessary to raise the quality of the Institute's results further to ensure the follow-up of performance and outputs even after entering the labor market to ensure keeping abreast of all changes in the fields of specialization of the Institute's students. He pointed out that if the need arises, graduates can be called back to the University for additional training courses in modern skills related to their specialties. From his part, Prof. Dr. Abdulkafi a Al-Rifai stressed the need to develop the Institute and its outputs and considered it important to benefit from the workshop and from the experiences of similar government institutes. Dr. Al-Rifai pointed out the need to upgrade the University Institute and its results, hoping that the workshop will seek to benefit from the experiences of similar government institutes inside and outside the country to take advantage of the strengths. He also pointed out the importance of the step taken by the Quality Center, represented by Dr. Zaid Al-Hudur, who succeeded in integrating students, researchers, and the labor market among the inputs of recent workshops, stressing the importance of students' participation and the labor market in scientific workshops, expressing opinions and identifying urgent needs and priorities. Dr. Al-Hudur pointed out that through this workshop, the strategic directions of the Institute and its five qualitative departments will be prepared: Pharmacy, Laboratories, Dental Industry, Radiology, and a Physician Assistant Department to join the rest of the University Faculties that have already prepared their strategic directions. Dr. Al-Hudur expressed his hope for the rapid characterization of programs and curricula to be trusted, standardized, and of high quality. In conclusion, the Dean of the Institute spoke and thanked the University leadership for their interest in the Institute, thanked the efforts of the quality center, and also touched upon that the goal of the workshop is to answer important questions, the most important of which are: what do we want to be and what is required of us ? What can we offer the labor market and what do we expect from our output ? Pointing out that the University graduates distinguished students with academic and professional competencies through the institute where they have combined academic sciences and technical expertise. He added that the Deanship of the institute is keen that the students of the Institute have different and varied skills, and that they are constantly updated to be distinctive at the level of similar institutes in the Republic to suit the outputs of the name, reputation and status of Thamar University .
