Thamar University Council Approves Regulations for Scientific Centers and Adopts a Package of Academic, Administrative, and Developmental Decisions in its Second Meeting

Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, chaired the second meeting of the University Council for the academic year 1448 (2026/2027) today. The meeting was held at the University headquarters and attended by the Vice-Rectors, the General Secretary, Deans of Faculties, and Council members.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Council approved the minutes of its previous meeting before discussing several items on the agenda, most notably the recommendations submitted by the Academic Council and the Council of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, related to developing the academic, administrative, and research performance at the University.

The Council approved the regulations for the scientific centers at Thamar University, which will contribute to organizing the work of the centers and enhancing their role in serving the educational process, scientific research, and the community.

The Council also discussed several academic promotions and settlements for faculty members, as well as requests for sabbatical leave for a number of faculty members and their assistants. It made the necessary decisions regarding these matters in accordance with applicable regulations and bylaws, ensuring the requirements for academic development and the continuity of the educational process are met.

Regarding postgraduate studies, the Council approved the recommendation of the Council of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research to establish a PhD program (Philosophy) in the College of Administrative Sciences, within the Departments of Business Administration and Finance and Banking. This program will be offered as a "two-research-and-dissertation" track, with the addition of a "Scientific Research Methods" course. This step aims to expand postgraduate programs and meet the needs of academic and research development.

The Council also ratified the final results for postgraduate graduates for the current academic year, at both the PhD and Master's levels, from the Colleges of Education, Administrative Sciences, Arts, and Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, after they fulfilled all academic and scientific requirements.

The University Rector emphasized that the Council's decisions reflect the University leadership's commitment to developing the university education system, enhancing the quality of academic programs and scientific research, and strengthening the university work environment. This contributes to achieving the University's mission and objectives in serving the community and fostering development.
