Thamar University Finalizes Preparations for the Sixth International Conference on Emerging Smart Technologies and Their Applications (eSmarTA‑2026)

◼️The Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology at Thamar University has announced the completion of all technical and organizational arrangements for hosting the Sixth International Conference on Emerging Smart Technologies and Their Applications (eSmarTA‑2026). The conference is organized by the university in partnership with Yemen Research and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, operating under the theme: "Smart Transformation Towards a Secure and Sustainable Digital Future."
In a statement to the University Media and the University Student Forum, Prof. Dr. Bashir Mohammed Al-Maqaleh, the Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, emphasized that the Faculty is among the most distinguished specialized institutions in computing and information technology across the Republic of Yemen. It comprises a cohort of pioneering academic and research competencies who are among the founders and early leaders of this discipline. He noted that the Faculty constitutes a cornerstone in preparing qualified professionals and contributing to the trajectory of technological advancement and digital transformation.
He further explained that the conference has attracted substantial international scholarly interest, with the Scientific Committee receiving 344 scientific papers from researchers representing 40 countries worldwide. Following rigorous peer-review processes in accordance with established academic standards, 96 peer-reviewed papers were accepted, distributed across 10 specialized scientific tracks covering the latest trends in smart technologies and their applications.
Prof. Al-Maqaleh also pointed out that the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology has secured a distinguished scholarly presence at the conference, with 12–15 accepted papers authored by faculty members, postgraduate students, and undergraduate students. This, he stated, reflects the academic and research caliber the Faculty has attained, as well as its commitment to fostering scientific research, creativity, and innovation.
He added that all accepted papers will be published in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library and indexed in the Scopus global database, thereby providing researchers with expanded opportunities to disseminate their scholarly outputs and enhance their visibility within international academic circles.
Regarding the conference delivery model, Prof. Al-Maqaleh clarified that the conference will adopt a hybrid format combining in-person and virtual online participation, enabling broad engagement from researchers both within Yemen and abroad. He confirmed that all halls and technical facilities are fully prepared to host the conference activities. The Palestine Conference Hall will accommodate the opening and closing ceremonies as well as several scientific sessions, while six additional halls at the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology and the Computer Center have been designated to host the remaining sessions in accordance with the approved scientific program.
He noted that the preparatory and organizational work has been under the direct supervision and follow-up of the university leadership, represented by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University, and Prof. Dr. Abdulkarim Zabiba, the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. He affirmed that the conference is organized in partnership with Yemen Research and under the technical sponsorship of the IEEE Yemen Subsection, thereby reinforcing its status as an international scientific platform for knowledge exchange and the presentation of cutting-edge innovations in smart technologies.
Prof. Dr. Bashir Al-Maqaleh concluded his statement by emphasizing that the conference serves as a scientific bridge connecting academic research with practical applications across various technological sectors, embodying Thamar University's commitment to supporting scientific research and innovation and fostering international academic collaboration. He underscored that artificial intelligence and smart technologies have today become pivotal pillars in building the digital future and achieving sustainable development.
