The Faculty of Dentistry at Thamar University in a workshop on Implementing the Unified Bachelor's Program plan and Affirms its readiness to Apply for Academic Accreditation.

■ The Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center and the Faculty of Dentistry organized a workshop to discuss the mechanism for transitioning to the unified plan for the Bachelor of Dentistry program, under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University.

During the workshop, the University Rector emphasized that the Faculty of Dentistry at Thamar University is one of the oldest and most experienced specialized faculties in Yemen, possessing the necessary infrastructure and academic programs.

He noted that its faculty members have a distinguished research presence at both the regional and international levels. He directed the Dean of the Faculty to complete the necessary requirements and officially apply for academic accreditation in dentistry. He also indicated the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research's readiness to support faculties applying for accreditation and to provide the required facilities.

The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Center for Development and Academic Accreditation, Professor Adel Al-Ansi, affirmed the continued cooperation between the Center and the Faculty of Dentistry at Thamar University in developing programs and ensuring quality. He commended the Deanship's responsiveness and contribution to implementing the requirements of the unified plan.

He also explained that the Faculty has made significant progress in reviewing curriculum content and updating courses, ensuring the preservation of core scientific concepts and the achievement of approved learning outcomes.

The Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Thamar University, Dr. Nashwan Hamid Al-Tairi, expressed his appreciation for the University Presidency's attention and direct oversight of the Faculty's affairs and its ongoing support for its academic programs. He confirmed the Faculty's readiness to transition to the unified plan and implement the workshop's outcomes, noting that the remaining needs are limited to upgrading specific equipment and some infrastructure renovations, which will be completed soon in accordance with academic accreditation requirements.

Thr Quality Expert and Evaluation Professor Dr. Abdullah Ghaleb Emran emphasized the importance of maintaining the Faculty's distinguished academic reputation, especially given the presence of its graduates in the regional job market. He stressed the necessity of continuously developing academic and research performance.  He commended the efforts of the university administration and faculty members in enhancing the college's programs.

The workshop included several presentations covering the legal framework of the unified plan, the differences between the annual and semester systems and the impact of the shift on course sequence and learning outcomes. It also featured working sessions to review the unified plan's content and draft the initial version of the academic document according to approved standards.

A select group of specialists and academics from Thamar University participated in the workshop, most notably Professor Dr. Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and the Dean of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance.

Professor Al-Ansi presented the workshop's general framework and discussed the legal aspects of the unified plan, alignment mechanisms, and quality assurance.

He also delivered a series of specialized presentations addressing the legal framework of the unified plan, the requirements for aligning academic content and ensuring the preservation of core scientific concepts within the program. Furthermore, he led the working sessions focused on developing the plan's overall structure and course distribution.

Dr. Abdulkarim Mohammed Al-Mawshki, the Head of the Academic Programs Development Unit, delivered detailed lectures on the differences between the annual and semester systems and the impact of this shift on learning outcomes and course sequencing. He also participated in leading the working groups responsible for preparing the initial draft of the academic document.

Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al-Haj also participated in the technical working sessions, contributing to discussions on the distribution of courses across levels and semesters and finalizing the academic requirements related to the initial version of the document. This ensured the integration of courses and adherence to the national standards of the unified plan.

The workshop was also attended by Dr. Ahmed Al-Khatri, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Al-Samhari, the Vice Dean for Graduate Studies, and leaders from the Academic Development Center and the college, including Dr. Rashid Al-Sanfi, the Vice Dean of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Nasser Najad, the General Secretary of the Center, Hisham Al-Mahdi, the Consultant of the Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Fahmi Al-Shami, the General Secretary of the College, and a number of faculty members, as well as academic and administrative leaders and staff from the university.
